General Worker

Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Driver’s License.
• 1-2 years General Worker experience.
• Basic knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Chainsaw and brush cutter competencies.
• Short course in landscaping will serve as an advantage.
• Experience with machinery and equipment will serve as an advantage.
• Numeracy Skills are essential.
• Effective Communication, good Interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team is essential.

Responsibilities

General Cleaning

• Ensure the neatness of grounds in the section by performing general cleaning duties including (removal of rubbish, general terrain work/gardening, cleaning of toilets, cleaning of picnic areas, and office buildings and surrounding areas to prescribed set standards. etc.)
• Assist with general maintenance tasks in relation to water provision and infrastructure (board walks, reservoirs, pumps, drainage lines etc.)
• Perform duties of a technical nature within the incumbent’s capabilities e.g. paint work, electrical, plumbing, welding and carpentry.
• Perform manual labour to maintain and assist with routine maintenance checks and with maintaining infrastructure of buildings, fence, roads and trails, and machinery.
• Assist with game capture operations and culling when required
• Assist with alien plant control where required, soil erosion prevention and land rehabilitation programs
• Assist in game capture operations and wildlife monitoring
• Assist with fire management where required and participate in emergency response efforts
• Ensure a high level of OHS practises are applied
• ranger posts/ sections and conservation facilities
• Daily check of maintenance book, complete daily inspection list and ad-hoc duties.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment used in the fieldwork and report minor and major maintenance defaults to the management
