Requirements
A National Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Nature Conservation or equivalent qualification.
At least three (3) years in environmental awareness and training and two (2) years experience in management.
Admin and report writing and financial management.
Experience in community facilitation will serve as an added advantage.
Ability to communicate in more than one language. Proficiency in isiXhosa and Afrikaans will serve as an added advantage.
Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Good communication, interpersonal, project management and negotiation skills.
A driver’s licence (code 8)
Responsibilities
Work closely with the SET Regional Manager
Facilitating the establishment of environmental awareness programmes in neighbouring community schools and with visiting interest groups inside the park.
Monitor and support environmental awareness programmes in the business unit.
Promotion of SANParks’ image to the park’s internal and external clients.
Liaising with community-based interest groups and NGOs.
Building and maintaining a sound relationship between the park and its neighbouring communities
Facilitating the creation and maintenance of community-based socio-economic development projects
Facilitate the cultural and indigenous knowledge programmes in the business unit
Identify research needs in all KPAs.
Co-ordinate and support Corporate Social Investment – and Wildlife Economy Projects
Implementing the Socio-Economic Transformation Strategy
Engage effectively in community-based conservation projects and programmes e.g. People and Parks Programme with DFFE

The remuneration package includes an all-inclusive cost to company salary, based on the scale of a position with a Paterson C4 job grade, allowances, and benefits as specified in the HR tariff document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
