Required Skills and Competencies 
  • Strong understanding of ethical principles, particularly for emerging genetic technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen the capacity of ethics committees and foster harmonization of review processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to navigate diverse cultural contexts.
  • Familiarity with WHO guidelines and African Union protocols on ethical oversight.
  • Experience designing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and basic design tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in event coordination and logistical planning.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in one AU official language (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic), with fluency in another as an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Excellent presentation, report writing, and communication skills. 
​​​​​​​Education and Experience: 

Master's degree in Ethics, Sociology, Public Policy, Arts in Education, or related field, with a minimum relevant experience of two (2) years of working within multilateral/ development institutions or similar organisations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. Experience in ethical frameworks, community engagement, or regulatory oversight, including work with ethics committees or review boards in the health, biotechnology, or public health sectors will be added advantage. 

OR 

A Bachelor’s degree in Ethics, Sociology, Public Policy, Arts in Education, or related field, with a minimum relevant experience of four (4) years of working within multilateral/ development institutions or similar organisations nationally, regionally and/or internationally. Experience in ethical frameworks, community engagement, or regulatory oversight, including work with ethics committees or review boards in the health, biotechnology, or public health sectors will be added advantage.
