Key Responsibilities:

• Support in implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management system.
• Leading Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA). Perform Job analysis to compile risks & hazards and document existing controls.
• Maintain all system documents and records as per management requirements
• Articulate SAEON·s commitment to eliminating work-related illness and injury and ensuring continuous improvement and a safer workplace as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act through training and awareness and crafting safe operating procedures.
• Provide support in implementing and maintaining the Health and Safety Management system within SAEON and ensure best practice
• Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) internal controls
• Do regular internal inspections and audits to determine any opportunities for improvement, including, but not limited to, general inspections to test the internal SHE systems.
• Ensure that all annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly checklists and inspections are completed and signed off by the relevant party that carried out the inspection
• Conduct annual legal compliance self-audits
• Coordinate Department of Labour audits and inspections.
• Prepare for any internal or external audits

Key Requirements:

Qualification:

• NQF Level 6 Qualification Higher Diploma in Health and Safety/ Environmental Management or related field.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental Management system maintenance support.
• 2-3 Years of Reporting, Accident Recording and Investigation.
• 2-3 Years of Health and Safety policy development and implementation.
• 2-3 Years of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) internal control design and adherence.
• 1-2 Years of Insurance Claims and Fleet Management.

Knowledge:

• ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System
• ISO 45001:2018 Health and Safety Management System
• Must be familiar with the latest safety and environmental legislation and regulations as well as other directives issued from time to time impacting Workplace Health, Safety, and the Environment.
