Key Responsibilities:
Create operational ocean products and metrics that describe the state of the ocean to support stakeholder needs.
Report on the results to SAEON, DFFE, CSIR, DSTI and relevant stakeholders
Effective data management and documentation of operating procedures
Science communication through outreach and engagement activities
Key Requirements:
Qualification:
MSc in physical oceanography (or a marine-related field) or
Honours Degree in Oceanography (or marine-related field) with at least 3 years work experience
Experience:
Proficient in python programming
Skilled in the management and analysis of large datasets analysis
Experience with Linux operating systems would be beneficial
Experience using a high-performance computer (e.g. CHPC) would be beneficial.
Communication
Knowledge:
Knowledge of Southern African ocean environment as well as relevant stakeholders
