Key Responsibilities:

• Create operational ocean products and metrics that describe the state of the ocean to support stakeholder needs.
• Report on the results to SAEON, DFFE, CSIR, DSTI and relevant stakeholders
• Effective data management and documentation of operating procedures
• Science communication through outreach and engagement activities

Key Requirements:
Qualification:

• MSc in physical oceanography (or a marine-related field) or
• Honours Degree in Oceanography (or marine-related field) with at least 3 years work experience

Experience:

• Proficient in python programming
• Skilled in the management and analysis of large datasets analysis
• Experience with Linux operating systems would be beneficial
• Experience using a high-performance computer (e.g. CHPC) would be beneficial.
• Communication

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of Southern African ocean environment as well as relevant stakeholders
