Hydrology Intern

Key Responsibilities:

• Digitise and mobilise hydrology data in the SAEON Fynbos Node data archive
• Prepare analysis ready data
• Curate datasets for uploading to the SAEON Observation database portal
• Learn about the data collection process
• Contribute to website development through blog post or news articles
• Support fieldwork and in field data collection
• Update hydrology data sets
• Work with data stakeholders

Key Requirements:
Qualification:

• MSc degree in Hydrology or Environmental Sciences or similar
• Valid Code B-driver's license will be advantageous

Experience:

• Demonstrable technical, analytical, and practical skills related to hydrological or ecological sciences
• Data management and data analysis
• Strong understanding of hydrological processes and instruments

Knowledge:

• Good scientific skills (writing, communication)
• Ability to analyse data and experience in statistical packages like R, Python, or similar
• Understanding of Hydrological principles or Hydrology models
• Development of web applications for visualising data will be beneficial
• Familiarity with SAEON data
