Requirements
- Be in a possession of a NQF Level 8 in Communications / Journalism / Public Relations/ Marketing or related field – NQF level 9 in the related field will be an added advantage
- 6 -10 years as a generalist in at least three functions of communications.
- In-depth knowledge of South African media landscape and political environment.
- 3 years in a management position
- Understanding of the Public Access to Information Act (PAIA) and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI), PFMA
- Understanding of the Public Relations Code of Ethics
- Understanding of relevant industry related legislation (conservation and tourism)
- Understanding of media relations principles and practices
- Familiarity with POPIA, B-BBEE, and other regulations.

Responsibilities
- Lead the Media Relations & Events team, setting objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align messaging and events with organisational priorities.
- Provide strategic advice to the executive team on media positioning and event opportunities.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to media exposure and public events.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive media strategy to promote a positive organisational image.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international media, journalists, and key industry stakeholders.
- Oversee media monitoring, crisis communication planning, and reputation management.
- Manage media interviews, press releases, op-eds, and public statements.
- Develop and implement strategies for the following: corporate media relations, corporate stakeholder relations, corporate events management, and corporate issue management
- Foster strong relationships with government bodies, community organisations, NGOs, and industry partners.
- Develop communication material for key stakeholders, including annual reports, newsletters, and speeches.
- Support stakeholder outreach campaigns that promote transparency, trust, and collaboration.
- Research and monitor the media environment and trends
- Manage the dissemination of information to the public
