Requirements
Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) required or equivalent.
1-2 years general worker experience and exposure in nature conservation related work (alien clearing, integrated fire management that includes fire management and law enforcement).
Driver’s License.
Basic knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety.
Must be physically fit.
Basic knowledge of general maintenance and inspection.
Good Hygiene practices.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards relevant to the field.
Knowledge of First Aid.
Provide own transport to and from workplace.
Perform Standby duties on weekends and Public Holidays.
Additional Requirements:
Chainsaw and Brush cutter competencies.
Experience with machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform basic conservation duties of physical and routine natures that includes the implementation of invasive plant, alien animal and natural soil erosion and rehabilitation management programs.
Fire protection, which include wildfire suppression, conducting prescribed burns and preparation of fire breaks.
Infra-structure maintenance including buildings, roads, hiking trails, day walks, footpath, gardens, tourism facilities and signage.
General Maintenance and upkeep of terrain, gardens, staff villages etc.
