Requirements
- Be in possession of a postgraduate degree in environmental science, sustainability or related field.
- At least 10 years’ experience in environmental sustainability, resilience, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Strong knowledge of environmental sustainability, resilience and climate principles and practices.
- Experience in policy analysis, programme/project management and community development.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and working with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice on integration of Vision 2040 into the work of the organisation relating to environmental sustainability and resilience (including climate change, waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, green economy, eco-friendly practices, etc).
- Analyse SANParks performance against relevant Sustainable Development Goals and guide the Vision 2040 interventions in this regard in the identified Mega Living Landscapes
- Contribute to the development of Vision 2040 strategies, plans, policies and programmes related to environmental sustainability and resilience.
- Analyse global and national trends and provide expert advice on climate change mitigation and adaptation to support resilience in identified Mega Living Landscapes.
- Mainstream environmental, social, and governance principles that support long-term sustainability success across Mega Living Landscapes.
- Advise on research gaps and undertake analysis on environmental sustainability trends, best practices and emerging issues including early warning systems, technological advancement and scenario-based modelling to inform future risks and infrastructure planning as well as decision making across Mega Living Landscapes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with research institutions, universities and other conservation organisations.
- Collaborate with and provide support to Vison 2040 partners, communities and operational teams to ensure environmental sustainability and climate resilience across Mega-Living Landscapes.
- Provide specialist advice on disaster risk reduction including moderation of natural disasters such as floods, drought, fires, etc. across Mega Living Landscapes and in partnerships with relevant authorities at local, provincial and national levels.
- Participate in environmental (blue, green and brown) planning and management, climate resilience (mitigation and adaptation) interventions in the identified Mega Living Landscapes.
- Guide, at landscape level, assessment of the current state of pollution (land, air and water) and pollution minimisation and management.
- Develop landscape level indicators for environmental sustainability and climate resilience and establish and implement a monitoring, evaluation and reporting system.
- Support initiatives in the mega-living landscape to unlock sustainable and green finance in order to resource environmental sustainability and climate resilience- objectives.
