Requirements
- Be in possession of a post-graduate degree in tourism, sustainable development, community development, economic development or related field.
- 5-7 years’ experience in tourism development.
- Experience in policy analysis, business development, programme/project management and community development.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and working with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of community-based tourism strategies and programmes that promote sustainable livelihoods in the identified Mega Living Landscapes as part of Vision 2040.
- Identify gaps and optimize opportunities in Mega Living Landscapes where there is potential to attract tourism and investment.
- Develop and manage destination marketing initiatives for communal areas in Mega Living Landscapes
- Develop tourism support programmes for SMMEs.
- Lead the development of rural tourism products and services to attract and encourage inclusive tourism.
- Identify opportunities for development of tourism infrastructure in Mega Living Landscapes.
- Provide training and capacity building support to local communities and tourism operators.
- Create awareness about the value of tourism to local communities.
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with both public and private sector stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for development of tourism infrastructure in Mega Living Landscapes.
- Develop and implement programmes for inclusive participation of previously disadvantaged individuals and communities including women, girls, youth and people with disabilities.
- Ensure effective dissemination of information about investment opportunities in Mega Living Landscapes.
- Address barriers to the growth of tourism in Mega Living Landscapes.
- Undertake research and analyse trends in order to inform marketing and investment decisions.
- Ensure effective risk management in community-based tourism programmes.
- Monitor progress with the implementation of programmes to ensure their impact on local livelihoods and their effectiveness.
- Develop and implement tourism skills development for communities.
- Keep abreast of markets and industry trends.
- Collaborate with all relevant divisions in the organisation to ensure integrated and sustainable community-based tourism development.
