Requirements
- Grade 12
- Water Care/Chemical Engineering or 3-year BSc Water & Sanitation
- Class V process controller certificate
- 6 years of experience in water purification of which 2 years must be a supervisory capacity
- Code EB driver’s license
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
Responsibilities
- Planning the operation and maintenance of various water and wastewater plants for the efficient functioning
- Direct and control technical and operational outcomes associated with the functions related to water and sanitation
- Assist consultants and contractors in development, upgrade and refurbishment of water and sanitation infrastructure.
- Coordinate shutdown, isolation and lockout procedures for faulty equipment and hand it over to the maintenance section.
- Overseer operation of water works through SCADA and Telemetric System
- Collect and analyze portable water, groundwater, effluent and river samples
- Ensure that water and wastewater are treated to the required effluent limits as per license conditions and SANS 241: 2015
- Ensure efficient use of energy and chemicals and minimize water losses
- Manage budget and ensure procurement of chemicals, consumables, spares, services, PPE and process equipment
- Ensure asset management for the section in terms of SANParks policy.
- Conduct quarterly compliance inspections on wastewater facilities with DWS and Catchment management agencies.
- Supervise staff, perform administrative duties, update information and Capture Data analysis on Green and Blue drop IRIS
- Ensure compliance with the OHS Act within the water and sanitation section
- Ensure that water and wastewater plants are operated and maintained to the standards and procedures of SANParks
