KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research and Development
- Conduct limited geoscience research under the guidance, which includes data collection, basic analyses, and interpretation.
- Resolve simple problems in a variety of geoscientific fields inline (in part) with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/ research methodology under guidance/supervision.
Project Implementation/Project Management
- Participates in statutory and/or commercial projects under supervision.
- Assist in geoscience data collection and capturing, map compilation and geoscience data collation under the instruction and guidance.
- Assist in the compilation of scientific reports under guidance.
Stakeholder Relations and Reporting
- Gives formal scientific or technical presentations of papers or reports, internally to other staff members and externally with guidance at conferences or symposia (typically once a year).
- Provide Geohazard assessments feedback to State Authorities.
- Publishes research findings internally and/or externally based on the nature of project cycle.
Quality Assurance
- Work within the requirements of the prescribed work standards (i.e. ISO and international best practice).
Learning and Development
Undertake specific and requisite self-improvement learning and development activities through workshops/training courses.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12; and
- BSc Hons Seismology or equivalent
- Candidate Natural Scientist (Cand.Sci.Nat.) registration with SACNASP will be advantageous.
