Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of project work plans based on project proposal/concept notes and insure all relevant reporting is maintained
  • Maintain database of project stakeholders across different programmes
  • Assist Science Officer in the running of meetings with stakeholder/working groups/organizing committees
  • Assist Ocean & Polar Coordinator and Science Officer with procurement in liaison with the Node Administrator
  • Develop outreach material and maintain websites
  • Liaise with staff to ensure promotional material are always up to date, e.g. brochures, banners, glossy booklets
  • Work with science engagement to promote projects to stakeholders and civil society
  • Support Ocean & Polar Coordinator and Science Officer with research, as needed
  • Support Ocean & Polar Coordinator and Science Officer with data management, as needed
  • Maintain databases of literature and documents relevant to projects
Key Requirements:
  • MSc in oceanography, marine biology, marine science or related degree
  • 2 years relevant experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in data management will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of project management and stakeholder engagement tools
  • Knowledge of recent national and/or international marine and climate science projects active in South Africa would be an advantage
  • Some understanding of working with open science principles would be an advantage
