Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners.
• Leading and participating in project meetings.
• Developing and implementing project plans.
• Identifying and managing project risks.
• Providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.
• Managing team members' performance.
• Contributing to the development of SAEON uLwazi's overall strategy and vision.
• Developing analysis, data exploration, and open-source visualization tools 2maps, charts, graphs, and user-friendly GUIs.
• Creation of new and derived data products and information to contribute to SAEON uLwazi open data platform data dissemination.

Key Requirements:

• PhD in Computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Physical Sciences with exposure to data science and coding
• Applicants with an MSc plus 10 years of data science and coding experience will be considered.
• 7+ years of relevant professional work experience in coding, geospatial data analysis and classification techniques
• Experience managing small projects or technical teams
• Experience in relational databases, machine learning, statistics, and programming
• Some background in supervised and unsupervised classification techniques
• Knowledge in the various projects the team undertakes, and be able to manage a team of data scientists, front end developers and 

• Familiarity with spatial and multidimensional data technologies, data, and services, including management skills analysts.
