Qualifications and Experience Required

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.
• Accredited and registered Grade C or B Security Certification (PSIRA) with own licensed firearm.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in security industry.
• Minimum Valid Code B Driver’s License with Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• Basic Computer literacy.
• Preferably with Safety or Emergency Response Training.
• Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo regular criminal checks.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Required

• Knowledge of PSIRA regulations and code of conduct.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of road rules and regulations.
• Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Adaptability and resilience.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Verification of both employee’s and visitors’ identity, ensuring that visitors are registered in the logbook and handed visitor’s permit.
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
• Generate report of incidents, or any issues discovered and ensure following up and escalating issues beyond the scope.
• Ensure prompt response to incidents and notify SANEDI OHS committee or escalate the issue to the authorities (Police, Fire department, Hospitals).
• Patrol the building, ensuring that all access points (doors, windows, and ventilation) are secured and the building is free of suspicious activities.
• Prompt response to alarms and investigate disturbances to maintain security of the premises.
• Always on standby to offer transportation services that might be requested or required.
• Undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time.
• Lock and unlock offices securely.
