Requirements
Grade 12 certificate
Certificate (NQF level 6)/National Diploma in Conservation or related fields
2-5 years in field supervision of field rangers in a dangerous game area, and previous practical experience in natural resource management
EMI Grade 5
Field Ranger Basic Training
Code 8 driver’s licence
Computer literacy (MS Office, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
A firearm competency certificate
Should be firearm competent and have a certificate. (NB: valid SAPS Competency Certificate; Original Training Competency Certificate for Business Unit Standards; PFTC Statement of results indicating the unit standards for Law and Business Purpose Unit Standards)
Sound communication and interpersonal skills
The willingness to be based at an outpost throughout the park
A healthy person with a high level of general fitness and mental alertness is required in this position
Must be physically fit and be prepared to undergo a fitness test before the interview
Must be willing to undergo a medical exam
Added Advantage:
5-10 years of in-field experience in dangerous game
A valid code C1 driver’s license with a PDP will serve as an added advantage
Master Tracker Training
An Advanced Field Ranger training qualification
EMI Grade 2 certification will be an added advantage

Responsibilities
To assist the Senior Section Ranger with all management-related aspects to deliver on the biodiversity, area integrity, and cultural heritage mandate.
To plan, implement, assess, and evaluate activities (patrols, firefighting, deployments, and census).
To assist in the daily control of the financial management of the section.
To assist with the management of asset control within the section.
To assist in maintaining purposeful relationships with key stakeholders.
To ensure the enforcement of good corporate governance and proactive risk management.
To supervise the human capital of the section (training, mentoring, and coaching).
To ensure effective patrolling for maximum area coverage.
To ensure compliance with state-of-the-art integrity management standards.
To enforce law, order, and discipline through all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
To assist in visitor management and safety when required.
