Job Description
Duties:
  • Implementation of a system intended to maintain and extend the evaluation, accreditation, and monitoring of independent schools, including, but not limited to:  

  • Developing and maintaining a database for independent schools and private colleges.
  • Developing accreditation, monitoring, and evaluation instruments and manuals.
  • Assisting in the development of accreditation and monitoring policies and procedures.
  • Generating and editing evaluation reports.
  • Planning and coordinating site visits and reporting.
  • Arranging and facilitating workshops.
  • Establishing and maintaining sound relations with independent schools, private colleges, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Performing any other tasks that are reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements: 
  • An appropriate recognised 3 or 4 year post-metric qualification in education.
  • Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
  • Valid driver's license with own vehicle.
  • At least 3 years of middle management experience, preferably obtained between 2020 and 2025 in a school, college, or quality council environment.
  • Experience as an Umalusi Subject Specialist/Evaluator dealing with evaluation and accreditation will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in teaching or lecturing in a private college offering a qualification on the General and Further Education and Training Qualification Sub-framework will be an added advantage.
Added Advantage: 
  • A post-graduate education qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Experience as Umalusi Subject Specialist/Evaluator dealing with evaluation and accreditation.
  • Experience in teaching or lecturing in a private college offering a qualification on the General and Further Education and Training Qualifications sub-framework.
  • Implementation of a system intended to maintain and extend the evaluation and accreditation of independent schools and private colleges, and reporting thereon.
The successful applicant must have proven understanding, knowledge, and experience of:
  • All pieces of legislation that inform Umalusi’s work as a Quality Council.
  • The uniqueness of independent schools and private colleges.
  • Accreditation, monitoring, and evaluation systems and processes.
  • Good verbal and written English communication and report writing skills.
  • Sound training and facilitation skills.
  • Project management, coordination, and strong administration skills.
The successful applicant must:
  • Be dynamic, self-motivated, and self-managing.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure as an individual and in a team.
  • Be willing to travel regularly and extensively, and also to work extra hours and/or after hours.
  • Have the ability to work within tight timelines.
  • Have extensive computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams).
