The project accountant will be accountable to manage all project-related financial activities which includes contract monitoring, including any new contracts, contract amendments, finalisations, terminations or withdrawals. It further requires the monitoring of project related expenditure to determine the progress on the projects, which includes budgets and forecasting, the investigation of variances, ensuring that payments are made in line with project requirements, implementation of efficient and effective internal controls and procedures to streamline the flow of project-related information, ensure timeous payments and effective and efficient reporting to stakeholders.
Applicants must be in possession of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent subject. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) would be advantageous. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the accounting field, of which experience as a project accountant is required. Public Sector financial management experience, specifically with reference to GRAP and PFMA, will be advantageous. In addition, the applicant must be efficient in MS Office and any other software applications, tools or platforms which enables real-time reporting, and must have a solid knowledge of accounting and financial principles and practices.
